Prevent Heart Disease With These Simple Steps
Women and Heart Disease
Studies have show that when men go to the hospital with chest pains and shortness of breath, it is automatically assumed that the patient is probably having a heart attack or he is suffering from heart disease. This has lead to a drop in the mortality rates for men when they do actually have a heart attack.
Women heart disease studies also show that when women with heart disease go to hospital, their pains are usually dismissed as indigestion or some other minor ailment. There are problems in diagnosing heart disease in women. One reason is because heart disease symptoms in women are different that the symptoms for men - the chest pains and shortness of breath. This has left the mortality rate for women - who are having a heart attack - right where it is, and that number is too high. To keep yourself from being misdiagnosed when you are having chest pains, you must do all that you can do to keep a healthy heart.
Get Plenty of Exercise - Moving your body is essential if you want to have a healthy heart. The exertion will get your heart pumping and the exercise can help to keep extra weight off.
Lose Weight - If you carry extra weight around your middle, you are at a greater risk for having too high cholesterol levels and other health related problems. These problems usually lead to heart disease. Heart disease usually leads to a heart attack. A heart attack usually leads to a weakened body and/or death. Lose weight, live longer.
Lower Your Blood Pressure - Know your blood pressure levels and if you need to, lower your numbers. Studies have concluded that doing nine consecutive minutes of exercise will lower your blood pressure. Do nine minutes of exercise several times each day to keep your numbers low. Smoking will raise your blood pressure for at least an hour. Too high blood pressure will lead to heart disease.
Do Not Smoke - When women smoke, the effects on the heart are greater than when men smoke. Smoking raises your blood pressure and raised blood pressure causes your heart to strain under the pressure, this strain can make your heart tired, a tired heart may decide to quit. If your heart decide to quit because you treat it bad, you die. (Or you can get an artificial heart or some other dreadful operation, which is bad enough.) See Your Doctor - Before you decide to diagnose yourself and begin a routine that is new to your body, consult with your doctor or a health care official to make sure that you are doing the right thing and to make sure you do it correctly.
