Pimples affect almost everyone's skin from time to time, not only teenagers have the problem of unexpected breakouts. With a few simple steps, you can put a stop to your regular breakouts and safe guard your skin to lessen the severity of your skin erruptions.

What is a pimple? A pimple starts when a hair folical is stopped up with dirt and oil which allows sebrum - your skin's natural oil - to build up. Bacteria, whose favoite food is oil, begin to stick to the sebrum and the result is imflammation. The inflammation is an indication the your body is trying to get rid of the bacteria. The redness and swelling finally turns into - what we call - a pimple.

What triggers breakouts? - Some of the things that will trigger a breakout are: progesterone-dominant birth control pills, some medications, stress, iodine found in seafood and supplements and, of course, your hormones.

What Helps to Prevent Pimples

Avoid touching the pimple - When you constantly touch the already inflamed pimple, the dirt and germs on your fingers will possibly cause even more inflammation and the infection will be carried to other parts of your face and your skin will end up looking even worse.

This is what to do to keep a pimple from getting bigger.

Clean your skin regularly - Dirty skin can never be beautiful. Keep your skin clean with the proper skin care products that will compliment your skin type.

Always wear oil-free cosmetics The oil and other heavy ingredients will clog your pores and this will lead to skin break-outs and skin erruptions. Choose light natural cosmetics and keep an eye on how long you keep them. There is a chance that bacteria will build up in the liquid and there is also the chance that the make up will spoil after a while. Throw away all cosmetics that you have had for more that one year (six months may be even better).
